Rosneft Oil Company and BP launch new line of fuels featuring ACTIVE technology at all BP filling stations in Russia

16 October 2018

On October 18, 2018, sales of new BP fuel featuring ACTIVE technology start at all BP multi-purpose filling stations in Russia operated by Rosneft Oil Company. ACTIVE technology provides a high level of engine protection against deposits formation and removes existing deposits. The new BP fuel meets the highest requirements for the most advanced engines and has significant advantages for use in previous engine models.

ACTIVE fuel is a unique set of components that most effectively prevents deposits formation on the main parts of the engine and contributes to increasing fuel economy and restore engine capacity.

Even a small amount of deposits on engine parts, especially on fuel injectors and induction valves, may increase fuel consumption, decrease engine capacity and be the cause of its poor performance. A clean engine is the foundation of optimal motor vehicle performance maintenance.

The new BP fuel featuring ACTIVE technology contains millions of active molecules that prevent deposits from the very first fuelling. If used on regular basis, the BP fuel featuring ACTIVE technology prevents deposits formation that helps ensure full engine performance; can lead to an increase in the car running time per one fuel tank and reduce the risk of engine parts failure.

Over the past five years, the BP research and development team has been working to create its best fuel to prevent deposits. The BP fuel featuring ACTIVE technology has been tested with 110 different test methods. The BP fuel featuring ACTIVE technology has been tested on engines and cars for 50,000 hours, which is equivalent to more than five years of continuous vehicle operation.

Note for Editors:

BP Retail Network amounts to 122 multi-purpose filling stations in Moscow, Saint Petersburg, Tver, Smolensk, Pskov, and Veliky Novgorod. Rosneft owns and runs the BP Retail Network in Russia using BP trademarks under a licence from BP PLC.

Tests of new BP gasolines featuring ACTIVE technology showed the results of engine deposit prevention, as follows:

  • Up to 77% of deposits removed within the first 60 hours alone of the engine running both BP Ultimate 100 fuel featuring ACTIVE and BP Ultimate 95 fuel featuring ACTIVE.
  • Gasolines of RON 92 and RON 95 featuring ACTIVE remove up to 59% of deposits within the same time limit.

Tests of new BP Ultimate 100 featuring ACTIVE showed the operating results, as follows:

  • High-octane fuel BP Ultimate 100 featuring ACTIVE can increase the engine power capacity by 11%*.

Tests of diesel Ultimate featuring ACTIVE technology showed the results of engine deposit prevention, as follows:

  • Bench tests with use of a method to measure fuel’s impact on engine capacity changes showed that diesel fuel Ultimate featuring ACTIVE can restore the engine capacity from 95% to 99% in 32 hours; that is diesel fuel Ultimate featuring ACTIVE restores almost every default capacity of the engine in short time.
  • Application of diesel fuel BP Ultimate featuring ACTIVE contributes to increase the car running time by 56 km per one fuel tank**.

* The actual result may vary upon the type of the engine and individual driving habits.

** achieved with diesel fuel BP Ultimate. The tests were held on different vehicles in comparison with diesel fuel GOST 32511. The actual result may vary upon the type of vehicle, driving conditions, and individual driving habits, and is achieved with time.
